Marijuana should be regulated and taxed by the government, like cigarettes and alcohol, so the government can get a share of the profits and to reduce the power of drug smugglers that comes from transporting and selling illegal products.

It would reduce the amount of time and money spent by police, courts, jails and prisons to prosecute and punish people for marijuana related crimes.

When is the last time someone was arrested for smuggling cigarettes or alcohol? It doesn't happen very often, and not on the scale or with the violence of the illegal drug trade.

Sometimes it looks like they could barely organize a two car parade correctly.

Federal government seeks to ban marijuana sales which are legal under state law.

Your wise federal government watching over you. Makes you feel safer, doesn't it?

No thank you, federal government, for your help and concern on this issue. Why is marijuana classified by the federal government as a more dangerous drug than hashish and cocaine? What's that about and who was behind that idea?

The people who grow, transport (smuggle) and sell marijuana illegally want it to stay that way so they can keep making big profits. They are on the same side as the federal government in wanting to prevent states from legalizing marijuana. Yeah drug dealers and cartels! The federal government is with you! Stop the states from legalizing marijuana. Al Capone would be proud.

Tax Cannabis 2010
11/2/10. The cannabis proposition in California was defeated by a vote of 54% to 46%. What about prohibition and Al Capone? What about cigarettes and alcohol?

Yes on California Proposition 19. Help California's budget by legalizing and taxing marijuana sales.

In addition to providing taxes for the government, legalizing marijuana sales will save money on police and court services for the State and local governments.

Prohibition against the use of alcohol in the United States was a failure that created a huge black market economy for organized crime to sell alcohol. It diverted resources of law enforcement and courts from prosecuting other crimes.

"Prohibition in the United States, also known as The Noble Experiment, was the period from 1920 to 1933, during which the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol for consumption were banned nationally as mandated in the 18th amendment to the Constitution....

....

"On December 5, 1933, the ratification of the 21st amendment
repealed the Eighteenth Amendment."
